The Westfield Theatre Group proudly presents its spring musical, "Company", with performances on April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 8:00 PM and matinee performances on April 12 and 19 at 2:00 PM. Performances will be held at the Westfield Woman's Club, 28 Court Street in Westfield, MA. The production is directed by Tom LeCourt with musical direction by Paul Coffill.
With music and lyrics by the legendary Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth, "Company" is a musical comedy that examines love, marriages, relationships, and being single in a modern world as seen through the eyes of Robert, a 35-year-old confirmed bachelor. Robert's 10 best friends happen to be five married couples, each of whom are pressuring him into settling down, but each also representing to Robert a different reason why he shouldn't be married. The cast is rounded out by the three girlfriends that Robert is currently dating.
"Company" originally premiered on Broadway in 1970 and won several Tony awards, including Best Music, Best Lyrics, Best Book, and Best Musical. "Company" was also revived on Broadway last year, and won the 2007 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival.
"Company" deals with many adult themes and situations and is not appropriate for children.
