INTERGENERATIONAL APRIL VACATION THEATER WORKSHOP
Amherst - Hampshire Shakespeare Company and the Renaissance Center Theater Company present “Comedy for All Ages”, an April vacation week theater workshop for children ages 8-12 and seniors 65+, April 21-25, 2008, from 9 am to 1 pm.
Tuition is $120 for the week, and includes museum admission for one day, and snacks. Registration deadline is March 31. For registration and information, call the Renaissance Center at 413-577-3600, or e-mail renaissance@english.umass.edu.
Participants will draw inspiration from the gallery exhibits at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art; then work together at Applewood Retirement Community in Amherst to come up with an improvised play which will be performed for family, friends and the public on the last day of the workshop on stage at The Carle!
This unique intergenerational program brings together young and old to create theater together under the direction of comedian Steve Henderson – best known as Gerry Atric for his one-man shows at the Majestic Theater in Springfield. In addition to being a popular stand-up comic, Steve is an actor, director and theater educator, and is Education Director for Hampshire Shakespeare Company.
Since 1992, Hampshire Shakespeare Company has offered exciting theatrical experiences for the children and adults of the Pioneer Valley. We start with the simple premise that anyone should be able to engage fully in the creation and performance of a play in an atmosphere of creative collaboration, low pressure and lots of fun.
